Shahid Beheshti University, is nationally renowned for excellence in teaching and research. Combining excellence in teaching with major investment in buildings, laboratories, facilities and equipment, the Faculty of Sport Sciences and Health provides students with a truly stimulating multidisciplinary learning environment. The wide-ranging expertise and cutting-edge research of our staff informs teaching across our degree courses, ensuring that our students keep pace with the latest developments in sport and exercise science, and helping them prepare for employment or further study.
The Faculty of Sport and Health Sciences was formally founded as faculty of Physical Education and Sport Sciences at Shahid Beheshti University in 2003. This faculty conducts education and research related to sport sciences. The faculty now has 22 faculty members in four different departments (Biological Sciences in Sport, Cognitive and Behavioral Sciences and Technology in Sport, Sport Rehabilitation and Health, and Sport Management and Media), more than 180 undergraduate and about 250 postgraduate students.
We promote public health through physical education and educate experts in the fields of sport and health sciences as well as producing research knowledge on physical exercise and health for the needs of various groups. In addition, our teaching and research focus on the effects of exercise and training on health and sport performance. Our ultimate goal is to increase and maintain people’s health, and improve sport performance.
The administration consists of the Faculty Education and Research Council and the Dean. Altogether, the faculty personnel comprise about 38 employees working as teachers, researchers or belonging to the administrative and support staff.
