The three-on-three men’s basketball team of Shahid Beheshti University delivered an outstanding performance in the national qualifying tournament for the 2025 Student Super Final in Russia, securing the runner-up title after a close and thrilling match against Islamic Azad University. The team came just one step short of advancing to the world’s top student teams.
According to the University’s Public Relations Office, the qualifying tournament for the 2025 Student 3x3 Basketball Super Final was held on October 4, 2025, hosted by Shahid Beheshti University. In a highly competitive and exciting final match, Shahid Beheshti University’s team led 18–17 against the Azad University selection until the final seconds. However, following a few controversial referee decisions, the team ultimately lost 20–18 to their powerful rival. Despite the tied points overall, they finished second, narrowly missing first place by just one point.
The Azad University of Qeshm team also delivered a commendable performance, finishing in third place.
The Shahid Beheshti University team was composed of Amirhossein Rezaeifar, Pouya Jahangiri, Pouria Taghizadeh, and Amir Borna Danesh, coached by Mr. Mehdi Masoumi and managed by Dr. Mohammadreza Boroumand.
This tournament featured seven teams from universities across the country and was held in a round-robin format, attracting enthusiastic support from student basketball fans and sports communities.
