Shahid Beheshti University PhD Student Appointed as Strength and Conditioning Coach of the National Rugby Team

Afshin Seraji, a PhD candidate in Exercise Physiology at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport Sciences, Shahid Beheshti University, has been appointed as the strength and conditioning coach of Iran’s national rugby team.

According to the university’s Public Relations Office, Seraji has pursued all his academic degrees—bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral studies—at Shahid Beheshti University and has an outstanding background in rugby. He was a member of Iran’s national rugby team for 10 years, competing in both the seven-a-side and fifteen-a-side formats, and was named Iran’s Rugby Player of the Year in 2018. In addition, he was recognized as one of the Elite Youth of Tehran Province in 2015.

It is worth noting that, following his selection by the Rugby Federation, Afshin Seraji has now begun his role as the national team’s strength and conditioning coach, preparing the athletes for the upcoming Asian Rugby Championship to be hosted in Oman.
